Verdict
There are plenty of questions after some high-profile recent falls for those at the head of the market and hopefully all will get around to provide the answers. CONSTITUTION HILL had a perfect record under Rules until falling on his latest two starts, although both came way too early to be definitive about his prospects and he remains the standard bearer in this division. State Man was clear when falling at the last at Cheltenham leaving the way for Golden Ace to record a shock 25/1 win. State Man showed he still has plenty to offer at this level and should make a bold bid to land this prize for a third successive year.
Expert View Verdict
CONSTITUTION HILL remains unbeaten under rules when standing up and although his recent spills are a big concern he is worth sticking with. At both Cheltenham and Liverpool he was still travelling well when coming down and he has proven he retains his ability this season. Though he's yet to match his previous heights the form of his Christmas Hurdle win has been franked at the top level since so he's still clearly top class. State Man would've run out a ready winner of the Champion Hurdle but for falling late and he's feared most for all that he has plenty to find with the selection on their previous meeting in 2023. Golden Ace was the beneficiary of the carnage at Cheltenham and she will likely be ridden to pick up the pieces again. She can complete the tricast ahead of fellow mare Kargese who was a Grade 1 winner at this meeting last year and added the County Hurdle last time.
